tube vs solid state

I was just reading the answer to someones question on perceived volume differences between tube and solid state amps. The answer given says that watts are watts. This is true if you are comparing rms to rmw, or peak to peak, or dynamic power to dynamic power etc......The other consideration in amplifier power is current switching. a 50w rms amp caple of 20v p-p current switching will have more output than higher wattage lower current amps. Tube amps generally have higher current levels than solid state amps. This is also why tube amps have more headroom than solid state amps.
