Take The Long Road And Walk It Ver 1 by The Music The Music - Take The Long Road And Walk It ver 1 guitar tab THE RIGHT WAY TO PLAY IT!! i believe the way to tab things right is to download videos of the artist playing it. that way it gives you an idea of which notes to tab based on where there fret hands are. also it might give hints on the settings of guitar and other ways of how it may sound. this song is very bluesy and should be played that way, based around one repeating riff with slight variations toward the end of each riff. no real structure guitar-wise, just keeps repeating with layered guitars which build up throughout. the following is a one guitar version and you will find that i've missed some parts out, those parts are the second guitar or third and is ignored by the band when played live anyways so yeahh... enjoy by the way this song is in A pentatonic minor but switches to normal A minor when Rob shouts the title of the song... MAIN RIFF(S) - the following is the way i play it and i'm convinced Adam plays it this way too - blues style: quarter bend (i.e. ^) the notes whenever possible for accenting - i know for sure Adam uses an autowah, along with crunch-type distortion from his Marshall, with reverb - faint delay/echo, but noticeable nonetheless. e-|-------------------------------------------------| B-|-------------------------------------------------| G-|-------------------------------------------------| D-|----7^-5h7---7^-7^p5-----------------------------| A-|--0--------0---------7^p0-5^p0-------------------| E-|-------------------------------------------------| - my friend, who is a slightly better guitarist, decides to play it this way with a slight variation at the end which shows his style... but yeahh choose one... e-|-------------------------------------------------| B-|-------------------------------------------------| G-|-------------------------------------------------| D-|----7^-5h7---7^-7^p5-----------------------------| A-|--0--------0---------7^p6p5^p0-------------------| E-|-------------------------------------------------| CHORUS (or whenever you think you hear this version) e-|-------------------------------------------------| B-|-------------------------------------------------| G-|----------------5^---7^p5------------------------| D-|----7^-5h7---7^----7------7^---------------------| A-|--0--------0-------------------------------------| E-|-------------------------------------------------| AFTER-CHORUS (or whenever you think you hear this version) e-|-------------------------------------------------| B-|-------------------------------------------------| G-|-------------------------17^----19^^^>p17--------| D-|--17/19-19^-17h19p17h19^-----19------------------| A-|--0------------------0---------------------------| E-|-------------------------------------------------| "TAKE THE LONG RAOD AND WALKKK ITTTTT YESSS!!" - same as the previous riffs except no autowah, reverb is higher and delay/echo is more noticeable and set longer and accurately to fit with the tempo... or - these same notes are played but in a way where delay isn't used but sounds as if it is (live version) e-|-------------------------------------------------| B-|-------------------------------------------------| G-|-------------------------------------------------| D-|-----7^------10^------9^------12^-----14^^-14~~*-| A-|--0*------0*-------0*------0*------0*------------| E-|-------------------------------------------------| *let this note ring and other staccato e-|-------------------------------------------------| B-|-------------------------------------------------| G-|-------------------------------------------------| D-|-----7^------10^------9^------12^-----14^^>~~*---| A-|--0*------0*-------0*------0*------0*------------| E-|-------------------------------------------------| *let this note ring and other staccato NEXT SECTION - back to "normal mode" without autowah - in some parts this riff is played by two guitars simultaneously where one is an acoustic guitar using a glass or metal slide. part a) e-|-------------------------------------------------| B-|-------------------------------------------------| G-|-------------7^^>p5------------------------------| D-|--5/7-7-7--7-------------------------------------| A-|--5/7-7-7-------------x8-------------------------| E-|-------------------------------------------------| part b) "not accurate i admit" e-|-------------------------------------------------| B-|-------------------------------------------------| G-|-----------/12^^^`-----------/14~-12~------------| D-|--5/7-7-7-----------5/7-7-7----------------------| A-|--5/7-7-7-----------5/7-7-7------------x2--------| E-|-------------------------------------------------| "FEEDBACK AH FEEDBAK BADDA BADDA BEAT BUP BADDA FEEDBAAACK" and OUTRO - autowah is back on - second guitar plays same thing but is an acoustic guitar using a slide e-|-------------------------------------------------| B-|-------------------x-x-----------------------x-x-| G-|----5---5---5------x-x---5---5---5-----------x-x-| D-|--7-5-7-5-7-5-7----x-x-7-5-7-5-7-5-7---------x-x-| A-|--7---7---7---7----x-x-7---7---7---7---------x-x-| E-|-------------------------------------------------| e-|-------------------------------------------------| B-|----------------------------------x-x------------| G-|----5---5---5------5---5------5-5-x-x-5h7-7-7^^~-| D-|--7-5-7-5-7-5-7--7-5-7-5-7--7-5-5-x-x-5h7-7-7^^~-| A-|--7---7---7---7--7---7---7--7-----x-x------------| E-|-------------------------------------------------| KEY h - pick left note and hammer on to right note p - " " " " pull off " " " x2 - repeat twice or whatever number is there... you're smart enough to work it out aye? ^ - quarter bend or slight bend i.e if the note is a G you're aiming to bend to the note roughly between G and G# ^^ - semitone bend i.e. if the note is a G you're aiming to bend roughly to the note G# or Ab which is one semitone or half a tone higher than the picked tone (G). ^^^- tone bend i.e. if the note is G you're aiming to bend roughly to the note A which is one tone higher than the picked tone (G). ` - accompanies a bend. pick the note while bent to the aimed note > - downbend, when accompanying a bend and means that the note should be bended back or released back to its original note. when not accompanying a bend follows the same rules as normal bends but in reverse effect i.e. on the B-string: 9> means to bend a quarter up then pick then bend back or release down while note is sounding. The same applies for 9>> or 9>>> accept the notes are bent a semitone up then picked or a tone up then picked respectively / - pick the first note then slide up to the second note, picking the second note is optional - pick the first note then slide down to the second note, picking the second note is optional ~ - vibrato, the fret finger is shaken to create the effect of a note "shaking" in pitch. ~~ - wide vibrato, the note is slightly bended (usually less than a quarter bend or otherwise indicated) repeatedly to create a more dramatic vibrato x - pick the strings while muting them with fret hand to create a percussive sound. email me at [email protected] for any tab requests, i also have MSN Messenger :-D p.s. songs i don't like or are too arduous to tab will not be tabbed, sorry...
