Dont Fear The Reaper by Blue Oyster Cult

Tabbed by: Talflick
Email: [email protected]

Tuning: Standard (EADGBe)
Here's a kick at the can, cause none of the chords worked for me on this site so far,
this song anyway. I once doubled rhythym guitar when a band was covering this, I made it
pretty much, but it sounds alright if you play it along with The Essential B.O.C. Album.
is my first tab so bear with me.

Intro : Rhythym fill...
e|-------------------------------------------------------------------------|
B|-------------------------------------------------------------------------|
G|---2-0----0----0----0---2-0----0----0------------------------------------|
D|--2------0----0----0---2------0----0-------------------------------------|
A|-0------2----3----2---0------2----3--------------------------------------|
E|-------3----1----3----------3----1---------------------------------------|
That's the main rhythym. It took me a while to figure out, not sure about the 1 3 0 0,
last 0 might be something else, but you can change that how you like. That's the little
bit. Once the drum fill comes in, hit a 'G' chord, something like.. 355433, from Bottom
up.
Then the structure looks like this:

Am G F G Am G
  G

It's really simple from then on in. You can double the rhythym line too, but if you're
along, it's kinda tough to keep the thing going right.

Am G F G Am G
  G
All our times have come
Am G F G Am G
  G
Here but now they're gone
F G Am (Am7 if you like it better, I do :P)
Seasons don't fear the reaper
(Am) F G Am
      F
Nor do the wind the sun or the rain (we can be like they are)
G Am G F
Come on baby (don't fear the reaper)
(F) G Am G F
Baby take my hand (don't fear the reaper)
(F) G Am G F
We'll be able to fly (don't fear the reaper)
(F) G Am G F G
Baby I'm your man
Am G F G Am G F G
La-la-la-la-la
Am G F G Am G F G
La-la-la-la-la
Am G F G Am G F
G
Valentine is done
Am G F G Am G
  G
Here but now they're gone
F G Am Am
Romeo and Juliet
(Am) F G Am G
(thats the F in the next line...)
Are together in eternity (Romeo and Juliet)
F G Am G
(see above)
40,000 men and women everyday (like Romeo and Juliet)
F G Am G F
40,000 men and women everyday (redefine happiness)
F G Am (Am) G
  F
Another 40,000 coming everyday (we can be like they are)
G Am G F
Come on baby (don't fear the reaper)
(F) G Am G F
Baby take my hand (don't fear the reaper)
(F) G Am G F
We'll be able to fly (don't fear the reaper)
(F) G Am G F G
Baby I'm your man
Am G F G Am G F G
La-la-la-la-la
Am G F G Am G F G
La-la-la-la-la
Am (let ring & fade)

(OK Kids, Here's the hard part. Wicked-ass solo, Tabbed in some other section. The
background chords, are something like this when they're in)

F - G - Cm (?) - G - F - G - Cm (?) - G
(I cant find anything better than that C minor, when you've got the full distortion on,
sounds fine, but if you get a chord thats better, Please Email)

Then it fades... and you get your Rhythym Fill again..

Am G F G

Am G F G Am G
 G
Love of two is one
Am G F G Am G
 G
Here but now they're gone
F G Am G (Start doing all upstrokes until 'Come on')
Came the last night of sadness
(G) F G Am G
And it was clear that she couldn't go on
(G) F G Am G
Then the door was open and the wind appeared
(G) F G Am G
The candles blew out and disappeared
(G) F G Am
       F
The curtains flew and then he appeared (saying don't be afraid)
G Am G F
Come on baby (and she had no fear)
(F) G Am G F
And she ran to him (then they started to fly)
(F) G Am G
      F
They looked backwards and said goodbye (she had become like they are)
(F) G Am G F
She had taken his hand (she had become like they are)
G Am G F G
Come on baby (don't fear the reaper)

Am G F G Am G F G

I love that bass riff at the end.
