This track is easy to play: an advanced beginner could handle it with practice and it
certainly is in the capabilities of an intermediate. I'll notate the main riffs and the
chorus progression, and explain them.
Riff 1A: The song starts with an intro that doesn't use a standard drum rhythm. This
riff gets played four times.
Riff 1B: The second half of the intro sees the bass drum hit accents on the backbeat, so
the bass guitar mirrors this motif.
Riff 2A: Normally a pre-chorus gets played after a verse. Riffs 1A/2B are played over a
vocal melody that is essentially a verse, but the underlying accompaniment pushes it
into intro type sounds. This progression follows the intro.
Riff 2B: I haven't brought up the verse riff yet, but after that the pre-chorus
progression mentioned above will be played once. Then this variation will follow.
Riff 3: Here's is that elusive verse riff! A simple eight note pattern that spans two
measures. It is also played during the guitar solo.
Chorus Progression #1: This progression constitutes the first half of Chorus 1, and gets
repeated during the out-chorus until it fades out. Use a half-time feel here.
Chorus Progression #2: This is the second half of Chorus 1, it only gets used once.
