Short Stories With Tragic Endings (ver 2) by From Autumn To Ashes An extremely emotional and thought-out song. There are different ways of fingering these notes, of course, but this is the more simple way in my opinion. It is also the way I am hearing the song. I will do my best in giving the exact and close to exact notes. There are really simple parts that are easy to hear, but some parts are sketchy. Good luck and enjoy. +The song is played in regular tuning: E-A-D-G-B-E The band has a RHYTHM guitarist and a LEAD guitarist. I will attempt to give you both parts. +Symbol Key: : the chords are STEGATTO. / slide # palm mute [] not sure + pause ^ raise string unraise string () lift and place finger to rhythm For the beginning, put your fingers into this chord the simple and obvious way... E-------| B---1---| G---2---| You will be using these notes in the process of strumming the first D---3---| part of this song. Be ready to lift and place first finger. A-------| E-------| Intro Part I [listen to the song for the simple rhythm] E-------------------------------------------------------------|| B-------1---0-1-------1---0-1-------1---0-1-------1---0-1-----|| Play this G-----2---2-----2---2---2-----2---2---2-----2---2---2-----2---|| pattern D---3-------------3-------------------------------------------|| four times. The RHYTHM GUITAR will repeat the same pattern, except this time LEGATTO, two times through while the LEAD GUITAR keeps that strum pattern going, playing it another two times. Then it simply goes into: E---------------------------------------------------------------|| B---------------------------------------------------------------|| Play this G-----------------------------------*2--------------------------|| chord pro- D---3--------------------------------2--------------------------|| gression 2 A---3--------------------------------0--------------------------|| times. E---1-----------------------------------------------------------|| [*The second chord can either be that or A5. Both work.] And it also sounds like the second guitar may be playing this chord: E-------| B-------| C5 G---5---| D---5---| A---3---| E-------| Verse One E-----------------------------------------------------------------------|| B-----------------------------------------------------------------------|| G-----------------------------------------------------------------------|| D-------0---5-----3-----5-5-3-3-2-2-----0---5-----3-----------0---------|| A---2-3---3---3-2---3-2-------------2-3---3---3-2---[3]-2-3-2---3-2/3---|| E-----------------------------------------------------------------------|| ^^^Play the above three times through^^^ At the end of third time, after it is only the guitar playing, it goes into the same pattern except you switch the order and play it twice. [Instead of 5-5-3-3-2-2 on D, start with the 2/3 slide part.] This is a real close guestimate of what the notes are, this is the most difficult part to hear through the entire song. Please email me if you have a better version, or if you have difficulty with my instructions. Moving on... The guitars stop while Malanie Wilis sings her part. [Verse Two] Then continue on... While Guitars One and Two are playing I can hear a third guitar, it's those screaming notes that you hear... I will attempt to get this right... This is after Guitar One finished two rounds of going back to "Intro Part III" Guitar Three...the wreck starts here...the heart is breaking... That's the end. Nine minutes and twenty-four seconds of pure emotion thrown into music. I hope this wasn't hard to read. If so, let me know and I'll see what I can do to fix it... also, let me know if there are corrections, but be sure first. These are pretty close... almost exact I'm betting. Probabaly too close. Have fun with it. Peace. Ginny [email protected]
