Old Age (ver 4) by Hole

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
                             Old Age by Hole
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Controversial gothic reworking of Nirvana's throwaway track of the same title. Cobain
wrote the music and melody, recorded a version, and then passed it onto Courtney, who
scrapped Cobain's lyrics and wrote her own. So, contrary to popular belief, this isn't
exclusively a Nirvana song. Kurt didn't like it enough to release it, and the lyrics in Hole's
versions of it are entirely different than those in Nirvana's. They just share the same
music. Hole recorded this song three times, each time with different lyrics. It first
appeared on the "Beautiful Son" single in 1992, and was later performed on MTV Unplugged
in 1995. The final studio version recorded by Hole, originally intended to be on 'Live Through
This', was later put on the band's compilation album 'My Body, The Hand Grenade' in
1997. Notice the intro verse (accompanied by an eerie organ) was tacked onto the beginning
of "Credit In the Straight World" on 'Live Through This'. The intro has no guitar piece
to accompany it, although Riff A was played during this intro when they performed on MTV
Unplugged. Note: song sounds best played on acoustic or acoustic electric guitar.

And I will awake
Your highness, I'm so high I cannot walk
And I will awake
You cripple, you take away my time
My peace, my empathy
No babies sleep on atrophy
Your unborn love and fetal stress
Hard bitter candy, legless caress
