Old Man Emu (ver 2) by John Williamson

Capo on 1st.
The other tab on here for this song wasn't bad but it's atrociously organised and has weird chords that I don't
think should be there. In my opinion this sounds much better. This is the song of my childhood so I had to tab
it perfectly.

[intro]
C F C G C x2

C F C D G
Let me tell you of an interview with an Old Man Emu,
C F C
he’s got a beak and feathers and things,
                             G C
but the poor old fella ain't got no wings.
C F C
Aren’t you jealous of the wedge tailed eagle?
                    D G
oom ba-da di-doo ba da da

(false notes)

“While the Eagle’s flying round and round,

I keep my two feet firmly on the ground.

Now, I cant fly, but I’m telling you: I can run the pants off a kangaroo.“

C F C D G
Ba da da doo doo, ba doo doo doo , doo doo doo doo doo doo.
C F C G C
He can’t fly but I’m telling you, he can run the pants off a kangaroo.

[interlude]
C F C C G C

C F C D G
Well, he was a model for the fifty cents, oom ba-da di-doo ba da da,
C F C G C
the designer should have had more sense, oom ba-da di-doo ba da da.

(false notes)
“If you take a look, it will prove to you,

I ran the pants off that kangaroo.”

C F C D G
Ba da da doo doo, ba doo doo doo , doo doo doo doo doo doo.
C F C G C
take a look, it will prove to you, he ran the pants off a kangaroo.

[interlude]
C F C C G C

C F C D G
You can’t loop the loop like a cockatoo, oom ba-da di-doo ba da da,
C F C G C
swoop and toss like an albatross, oom ba-da di-doo ba da da.

(false notes)
“You silly galah, I’m better by far,

than a white cockatoo or a budgerigar.

They squeak and squawk and try to talk,

why, me and them's like cheese and chalk.”

C F C D G
Ba da da doo doo, ba doo doo doo , doo doo doo doo doo doo.
C F C G C
He can’t fly but I’m telling you, he could run the pants off a kangaroo.

[interlude]
C F C C G C x2

C F C D G
Well, a dingo came around one day, oom ba-da di-doo ba da da,
C F C G C
“Hey there, emu, do ya wanna play?” oom ba-da di-doo ba da da.

(false notes)
But the emu was too smart for him,

walked right up an’ kicked him in the shins.

C F C D G
Ba da da doo doo, ba doo doo doo , doo doo doo doo doo doo.
C F C G C
He can’t fly but I’m telling you, he could run the pants off a dingo, too.

[interlude]
C F C C G C x2

C F C D G
Well, the last time I saw old man emu, oom ba-da di-doo ba da da,
C F C G C
he was chasing a female he knew, oom ba-da di-doo ba da da.
C F C
As he shot past I heard him say

(false notes)
[panting noises]

“She can’t fly but I’m telling you, she can run the pants off a kangaroo.”

C F C D G
Ba da da doo doo, ba doo doo doo , doo doo doo doo doo doo.
C F C G C
She can’t fly but I’m telling you, she could run the pants off a kangaroo.

C F C D G
Well, there is no moral to this ditty, oom ba-da di-doo ba da da,
C F C G C
thrush can sing but he ain't pretty, oom ba-da di-doo ba da da.
C F C G C
Duck can swim, but he can’t sing, nor can eagle on the wing,
C F C G C
emu can’t fly, but I’m telling you: he can run the pants off a kangaroo!

C F C

                    G C
oom ba-da di-doo ba da da,

Ha ha ha ha ha, aah ha ha ha haa
