White Feather (ver 2) by Marillion White Feather Marillion Misplaced Childhood I was lucky to see Marillion live in 1986, when they opened for Rush on the Power Tour. Fortunately, I saw them at the Civic Center in Springfield, MA, one of only 4 on tour of England, North America, and Europe at which they played "Misplaced Childhood" Silk Kimono - Blind Curve)and White Feather. 21 years later, I still love Marillion, "Misplaced Childhood", and White Feather, though expect me to remember exactly how Steve Rothery played it. I prefer the more energetic version from "La Gazza Ladra" (The Thieving Magpie) - the one that starts with Fish's "Yeeeeee-ahhh!" I play this in the seventh position using a the D-Barre form: A: X-X-7-9-10-X-| D: X-X-7-7-7-X--| Dsus4: X-X-7-7-8-X--| Intro (x2): stereo chorus, stereo delay (~450ms) and a little OD. A D Dsus4 D A -----------------------------------------------------------------------| --------10-------10--------7-8-7-8-7-----------------------------------| -----------9~~-----9--9~---7-7-7-7-7-7------9-7-6----------------------| -7--7------7~~-----7--7~---------------7----------5--------------------| -----------------------------------------------------------------------| -----------------------------------------------------------------------| Verse (palm mute): clean with stereo chorus and stereo delay. Don't try to count the 3rd string 9th fret E's. Listen to the song as this is the rhythm think "Another Brick in the Wall (part 2)". There is a lot of room for improvisation Occasionally, Steve ends the phrase in A with the parenthetical 3rd string 7th fret D. I include a little 5th string open A to add some bottom end when I am playing this on an acoustic guitar. A D Dsus4 D A -----------------------------------------------------------------------| --------10-----------10------------------7-8-7-8-7---------------------| ----------9-9-9-9------9-9-9-9-9-9-9(7)------------9-9-9-9-9-9---------| ----7-7----------------------------------------------------------------| -----------------------------------------------------------------------| -----------------------------------------------------------------------| Outro: stereo chorus, stereo delay and a little OD. A D Dsus4 D A --22-21------------------------------22-21-----------------------------| --------22-20-19---------19----------------22-20-19--------------------| -----------------21-19-21---21----------------------21-19-21-19-18-----| -------------------------------19----------------------------------19--| -----------------------------------------------------------------------| -----------------------------------------------------------------------| A D Dsus4 D A --22-21------------------------------22-21-----------------------------| --------22-20-19---------19----------------22-20-19--------------------| -----------------21-19-21---21----------------------21-19-18-----------| -------------------------------19----------------------------19--------| ----------------------------------------------------------------19-----| -------------------------------------------------------------------17--| Have fun with this great song from my favorite band! Mike
