Lonely Nation by Switchfoot ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lonely Nation - Switchfoot ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Song: Lonely Nation Artist: Switchfoot Album: Nothing Is Sound Tabbed by: timmy3125 Tuning: Drop D (DADGBE) This is one of my favorite songs off of Switchfoot's new album Nothing Is Sound. This has a strong punch to it, especially in the chorus, because there are now 3 guitars in as opposed to 2. I looked all over for a tab of this song but I had no luck so here's my shot at it. Hope you enjoy it, and if you do, please rate! INTRO/VERSE 1: The intro is mostly piano and drums but theres an acoustic part stuck in too. It might be hard to hear but once you hear it you can find the strumming if this exact. This part is also played in the second half of the 1st verse. e|---------------------| B|---------------------| G|---7/9-99997/9--7----| D|---x/x-xxxxx/x--x----| A|---5/7-77775/7--5----| D|---------------------| CHORUS: This is the fun part. Fill er' up with plenty of distortion. "Singing without tongues," and 2nd time "Desperate we are young," e|----------------------| B|----------------------| G|-----7----7~----------| D|--5~-7----7~----------| A|--5~---x55------------| D|--5~------------------| "Screaming without lungs," and 2nd time "Seperate we are one," e|--------------------------| B|--------------------------| G|-----11--------11/12------| D|--0~--x---077---x/x-------| A|--0~--9---077---9/10------| D|--0~------077-------------| "I want more than my desperation"(NOTE:10's and 12's not 1's and 2's) e|------------------------------------------------------| B-------------------------------------------------------| G|---------12~----------12~---------12~-----------------| D|--x1010--x~----x1010--x~---x1010--x~---x10101010/12---| A|--x1010--10~---x1010--10~--x1010--10~--x10101010/12---| D|--x1010--------x1010-------x1010-------x10101010/12---| INTERLUDE: This would be the part after the chorus when Jon sings "whooooa, whoaoooa..." played quietly here and the when the verse comes its at full volume. e|---------------------------------| B|---------------------------------| G|--xx7-999---11-99-12-999---------| D|--xx7-999----x-xx--x-xxx---------| A|--xx5-777----9-77-10-777---------| D|---------------------------------| VERSE 2: This verse has two parts to it, the 1st goes with the 1st two lines and the 2nd is played on the last two lines and is once again the acoustic part that goes with the The electric part is the same part that is in the interlude right before the verse. If you listen to the song you can hear the exact muting and stuff like that to get it perfect. e|---------------------------------| B|---------------------------------| G|--xx7-999---11-99-12-999---------| D|--xx7-999----x-xx--x-xxx---------| A|--xx5-777----9-77-10-777---------| D|---------------------------------| BRIDGE: Right after the second chorus (these are 12's, and 19's and stuff, not 1's and or 1's and 4's) e|------------------------------------------------------------| B|------------------------------------------------------------| G|--121212-141414-161616-1414---1212-1616--2121--191919-------| D|---x-x-x--x-x-x--x-x-x--x-x----x-x--x-x---x-x---x-x-x-------| A|--101010-121212-141414-1212---1010-1414--1919--171717-------| D|------------------------------------------------------------| "Lonely, lonely..." e|-------------------------------| B|-------------------------------| G|-------------------------------| D|--xxxx-2222-xxxx--2222-xxxx----| A|--xxxx-2222-xxxx--2222-xxxx----| D|--xxxx-0000-xxxx--0000-xxxx----| "WHOA!" e|---------------------------------------------------| B|---------------------------------------------------| G|---------------------------------------------------| D|-0-2--0-4-0---0-2-0--0-4555---0-2-5-4---0-2-4555---| A|-0-2--0-4-0---0-2-0--0-4555---0-2-5-4---0-2-4555---| D|-0-2--0-4-0---0-2-0--0-4555---0-2-5-4---0-2-4555---| This next guitar part is the slower part which goes "I'm tired of feelin low..." with these notes and play this till next Chorus. e|--15~~~---14--15~--14---------| B|---------------------15~~-----| G|------------------------------| D|------------------------------| A|------------------------------| D|------------------------------| After you play through the entire chorus once, there's outro and Jon just keeps singing Want more than a Lonely Nation, want more than a Lonely Nation..." During this part parts from the bridge are used. They are played right after the chorus and at the same time. End on: e|--15~~~---14--15~--14---------| e|--15~~~---| B|---------------------15~~-----| B|----------| G|------------------------------| G|----------| D|------------------------------| D|----------| A|------------------------------| A|----------| D|------------------------------| D|----------| This guitar plays this 2x, e|------------------------------| B|------------------------------| G|------------------------------| D|-0-2--0-4-0---0-2-0--0-4555---| A|-0-2--0-4-0---0-2-0--0-4555---| D|-0-2--0-4-0---0-2-0--0-4555---| Then goes to this.
