Perfectly Lonely (ver 3) by John Mayer Perfectly Lonely So I started this tab out because I felt no one had done the intro justice. To me it doesn't matter so much where you play the notes as what notes are played, so I know some of might be in different locations when John plays them, but to me it's more important that you nail correct note. (Plus unless you have monster hands you just can't play like John does.) The verse and are just meant to be guides, and really don't have anything to do with the rhythm, that's for you guys to figure out on your own :0 Also, this is my first tab ever, so please, be gentle ;) / - Slide up - Slide down // - Slow slide; hit the note, let it linger a moment, then slide it up b - bend r - release qb - quick bend and mute (part of John's style) v - vibrato h - hammer-on p - pull off (4)- optional note Intro e|-8//10--8//10--13--12--8-10-----------------------------| b|-8//10--8//10--10--13--8-10---9/10vvv------------------| g|------------------------------9/10vvv------------------| d|--------------------------------------------------------| a|--------------------------------------------------------| E|--------------------------------------------------------| e|-8//10--8//10--13--12--8-10-----------------------------| b|-8//10--8//10--10--13--8-10---12vv----11h12p11----------| g|------------------------------12vv------------12vvv-----| d|--------------------------------------------------------| a|--------------------------------------------------------| E|--------------------------------------------------------| e|----------------------------------------13--------------| b|--15b17r15b17----------------15qb---15b17--15b17r15vvvv-| g|-----------------/14-17p14h17---------------------------| d|--------------------------------------------------------| a|--------------------------------------------------------| E|--------------------------------------------------------| e|------------------------------20------------------------| b|---11p10--------10qb-----20b22--20b22r20----------------| g|--------12p10h12----------------------------------------| d|--------------------------------------------------------| a|--------------------------------------------------------| E|--------------------------------------------------------| Verse The Chords, in order, are C, F, C, Dmin, G. I'm not going to tab out every lick John does because that would take nothing short of forever, but here's an example of some things I saw in his performance on Letterman C, F, Dmin, G e|----------------------1----------------------------3-------------| b|-----(5)----5---1-----1--5--10-------------3-3-----3-------------| g|------5-----5---2-----2--5--10---10h12-10--4-4h5p4-4-------------| d|------2-----5---3-----3--5--12---12----12--5-5-----5-----5h7p5---| a|---3-----3/7----x--------7--x--------------x---------5/7-7-------| E|----------------1-----------10-------------3---------------------| Chorus C, F, C, Dmin, G Emin, Amin, Dmin, G e|----------------------1----------------------------3-----3------| b|-----(5)----5---1-----1--5-----------------------3-3---3-3------| g|------5-----5---2-----2--5--10-------------------4-4h5-4-4------| d|------2-----5---3-----3--5--12-------10h12p102---5-5---5-5------| a|---3-----3/7----x--------7--x---10h12--------12--x--------------| E|----------------1-----------10-------------------3--------------| e|-----------------------------------------8----------------------| b|----------------5----------------6---6h8-6----3h5p3-------------| g|---0-----0-0----5-5h7-5------5v--5---5--------4----4------------| d|---2-----2-0----7-7----7p5-------7------------5-----------------| a|---2-----2-2----x---------7p5----5------------x-----------------| E|---0------------5-----------------------------3-----------------| First Chorus-Second Verse Transition e|-8//10--8//10--13--12--8-10-----------------------------| b|-8//10--8//10--10--13--8-10---9/10vvv------------------| g|------------------------------9/10vvv------------------| d|--------------------------------------------------------| a|--------------------------------------------------------| E|--------------------------------------------------------| e|-8//10--8//10--13--12--8-10----------------22b24r22b24--| b|-8//10--8//10--10--13--8-10---12vv----------------------| g|------------------------------12vv----------------------| d|--------------------------------------------------------| a|--------------------------------------------------------| E|--------------------------------------------------------| Bridge Amin, G, F, G, G/E, G *(G/E is the same thing as Emin7 in terms of notes) Amin, G, F, Fmin e|--------------------------------------------------------| b|----5----3----1----3--3-3-5----3----1----1--------------| g|----5----4----2----4--4-4-5----4----2----1--------------| d|----7----5----3----5--5-5-7----5----3----3--------------| a|----x----x----x----x--x-x-x----x----x----x--------------| E|----5----3----1----3--0-3-5----3----1----1--------------| Solo (from the album) *note* I realize not as many of these are probably slides as are on here, but from what I saw on that live vid he was doing a ton of them, so pick and choose which you'd like to slide and/or bend. Also, I started having some trouble with the one part near the end where he gets up to the high F, if anyone has corrections feel free to give me a heads up e|-----------------------------------------------------------| b|-----------------------------------------------------------| g|--------------------------12h14-----------------12h14------| d|-------10h12/1412/14vvv------12/1412/14vvv-------15v---| a|--10h12----------------------------------------------------| E|-----------------------------------------------------------| e|-----------------------------------------------------------| b|---------------------------------------------------10-13---| g|----------------------------------------------9-12---------| d|--12/14-12--12-----10-------------------10-12--------------| a|--------------10/12---1210vvv---10-12--------------------| E|-----------------------------------------------------------| e|------------------12/13-12----------------------------------| b|-12/13/12/13vvvv---------12/13-12/13vvvv-------------------| g|---------------------------------------------14-------------| d|------------------------------------------------------------| a|------------------------------------------------------------| E|------------------------------------------------------------| e|--12/13-12-------------------------13b15-13vvv--13b15-13vvv--| b|----------13-12/13-12/13vvvv---------------------------------| g|------------------------------14-----------------------------| d|-------------------------------------------------------------| a|-------------------------------------------------------------| E|-------------------------------------------------------------| e|---------20---------------------------------------------| b|--20b22-------------------------------------------------| g|--------------------------------------------------------| d|--------------------------------------------------------| a|--------------------------------------------------------| E|--------------------------------------------------------| Enjoy!
